Quicktime South Park Free

Use and abuse of a river

Capanna Ghezzi From the Lake of Pilate to the top of the Redeemer

Data excursion: Difficulty: High Path Type: Ring Drop: 1325 m Distance: 21.5 km hike Duration: Approximately 9 hours Vette visited: Fourth San Lorenzo (2247 m) Peak Observatory (2350 m) Top of the Redeemer (2448 m) Pizzo del Diavolo (2410 m) Cima del Lago (2422 m), Cleaned Prato Punta (2373 m)

Starting point: Starting point is
Capanna Ghezzi (ref. CAI Perugia). I say ideal because it is virtually impossible to get in the car! In fact the cart is very impractical because of the deep ruts carved by the flow of rainwater in the middle of the road.
Directions:
down from Castelluccio di Norcia, direction Ascoli Piceno, we find, on the left, just before the Piano Grande, a natural stopping place. From here you have to take the gravel road to head to the Capanna Ghezzi. As I mentioned earlier hardly manage to get to the refuge, my advice is to travel as much as possible this road and park to the side when you meet a metal bar (1350 m).

Path: Put the backpack and go! Until the
Shack

Ghezzi
follow the "white" road which is wedged between the necks (route 203). Arriving at the refuge (1570 m) you can get a supply of water at source. In these places will surely encounter flocks of sheep and herds of cows. I recommend, for your sake, do not give too much confidence in these animals because dogs of the shepherds, often unattended, they could attack you. After this brief stop continue on the path that goes to your right (making, close to the source, with his back to the shelter - route 202). Climb up to the

Forca Viola (1936 m) at each junction always taking the path on your right. We are between the Monte
Argentella
(left) and the whole Carrier-Redeemer (right). In front of us opens the beginning of the Valle del Lago di Pilato. The trail climbs from the valley you see is what you have to go back. Now, take the path that climbs the mountain to your right with several hairpin bends to reach the peaks. Crest careful, especially in case of wind! As you walk the ridge to your right you will see the immense plain of Castelluccio surrounded by mountains on your left, the narrow valley of the Lago di Pilato

surmounted the highest mountain in the Marches ( Mount Carrier - 2476 m).

From the top of the Redeemer to the Pian Grande di Castelluccio di Norcia.

This is, in my opinion, the best part of the excursion. In rapid succession you will touch the highest peaks:
Fourth St. Lawrence (2247 m), Cima Observatory (2350 m), Cima of the Redeemer (2448 m), Pizzo del Diavolo (2410 m), Cima del Lago (2422 m) and Punta di Prato Clean (2373 m). seen from Pi

, but my advice is not to do so since this trip is already in itself very long. Lake Cima del Lago di Pilato by

Get off now, without following a particular path within the channel grass dotted with sinkholes, up to a notch that forms the lower part of the basin . You are now faced with the small "turning points" (passing grades) to be addressed carefully. Pass this path (or paths) through the visible and back across the scree to Pilate
Lake (1949 m). The Pizzo del Diavolo just before the descent to Lake Pilate.

In this place, especially in summer, certainly meet many people, since it is one of the most visited of the Sibillini Mountains. The Lake Pilate has a very interesting story and I hope to illustrate potervela in some future post. Meanwhile, I mention that lives inside the lake only a very small crustacean in the world: the Chirocefalo Marchesoni ( Chirocephalus Marchesonii ). This, to me, is the ideal place to recover from the stress before leaving.

for their return to continue dropping in the Lake Valley taking the path clear right in the middle of this (path 151). Every now and then, on your left hand, other paths. And 'one of these you have to take. I think the choice is irrelevant because we should all unite in a single path (path 153). Move ahead to Forca Viola and then continue down the same route.

Wildlife observed: Chirocefalo of Marchesoni, Peregrine , Alpine Chough, Hooded Crow.
